Thanks for the help. I just figured out that 'Rhino' import is a much more powerful python interface than 'rhinoscript' with tons of features.

Currently, this only export meshes that were already generated (for instance by using render or mesh poly count before) but I should figure out how to trigger mesh generation in python.

    Hi Etienne,

have a look at Rhino.DocObjects.RhinoObject.GetRenderMeshes, this should do what you need.

    Hope that helps!

    Dear users and developpers,

I am writing a python script for exporting scene geometry to an xml file for scientific analysis. I need to export all surfaces to triangles or quads.
Currently this works for meshes, bu I would like to export all other surface types.
I could create meshes from every surface object in the script, then export the meshes, then delete them. But is there a way to read the "render meshes" that rhino creates for previewing/rendering directly?
