Monkey debugger doen't stop at breakpoint

Since a few days the monkey debugger does not stop at breakpoints any more. I don't get to see a debugging window either. My scripts run as if there is no debugger. I start script from the toolbar with the 'debug the script' button or with Ctrl-F5. But I can't get the debugger to work. Of course I have breakpoints set (big red dots) on lines that get executed.
Has anyone any idea what I am doing wrong? Is it a bug in Monkey or in Rhinoscript?
Are there any alternatives to Monkey for debugging Rhinoscript?
